WordPress Development – HTML / CSS – PHP
I design user friendly, easy to update websites based on the WordPress CMS, from initial concept to live publication and user training. I have completed projects for small businesses, non-profit organizations, and personal and professional sites (including this one). One of my favorite things is helping people find solutions to their challenges, whether in daily life, my architectural projects, or in website design. I bring to each project an attention to detail, design and typography, clear organization, and a desire to find the best solution possible. You will find me easy to work with and always helpful.
I would enjoy discussing your project with you and answering any questions you might have. My goal is to make sure you get the site you want, that it looks good and conveys your message clearly, and that it’s easy for you to maintain!
User Friendly CMS
For most of my projects, including this web site, I use the WordPress content management system, which makes it easy for the end user to update content and add pages without any knowledge of coding, and without the need to involve a web designer. Depending on the desired design and your specific needs I can work with an existing theme (the coding templates that determine how your WordPress website looks), modify a pre-made theme, or build one for you from the ground up.
A typical web design process will include research, design, coding and deployment. Throughout the process I will work with you to find the best solution for your needs. You can be involved as much or as little as you prefer in the planning and design of your site, and you always retain approval rights at every step of the way. I can also work within an existing design if you already have one developed.
Training and Follow Up
I can train you and/or your users in WordPress basics and how to manage your website. I also provide follow up services and on-going website management if you would prefer to leave that to someone else. My websites include custom help tutorials in the Administration section, geared to your specific site, to help your users with the most common needs in updating and managing content and also any specific features we’ve included (like calendars or event registration).
Determining your needs (and the needs of the users, if they are different), researching the best way to construct the website, identifying any additional plugins or softwares needed for extended functionality.
The nitty gritty. With the graphic look of your site developed and agreed upon, we get on with writing the code, including modifying or creating WordPress theme files, integrating any plugins, and testing, testing, testing.
Developing a graphic layout for your site, working out the navigation, determining the graphic “look” of things and any custom graphics needed. This stage will involve Photoshop mockups of your website.
The fun part (mostly!) With the website ready and tested, we move everything online from the local development environment to your own web host.
